Beneath the southern slopes of the mighty Mount Peca, in the alpine valley of Topla, rises Burjak Wall, also known as Burjakove peči, a natural monument of geological history and a popular climbing area designated as a geological and geomorphological natural asset. More than 230 million year ago, algae accumulated on the floor of an ancient sea, forming limestone. Later, the tectonic forces that uplifted the Alps folded, fractured, and thrust these rocks upward, creating the impresive wall that still tells the Earth's story today and bears the name of a nearby homestead. Burjak Wall offers around 68 climbing routes, graded from 3 to 8 and ranging in length from 6 to 55 metres, making ot suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers. At the same time, the wall is safe haven for endangered speciaes that nest in it inaccesible cliffs, far from the human world. Burjak Wall thus unites sport, nature, and history in one magnificent vertical landscape.
